2. Lotus leaf porridge – ‘Ha diep chuc’

Ingredients: 1 fresh lotus leaf (can use 15g dried lotus leaf), 100g rice (or brown rice), enough rock sugar

How to prepare: Wash the lotus leaf, chop it, boil it to get the water (discard the residue) then add the rice and cook it into porridge, add rock sugar, divide it into meals for the morning and evening.

You can also put the rice in the pot to cook into porridge first, then use lotus leaves (with the stem and edges removed) to cover the porridge, continue to cook until the aroma of the lotus leaves permeates the porridge.

Or you can use clean lotus leaves, blanch them in boiling water, line the bottom of the pot, then pour the boiling porridge on top, cover the lid for 5 minutes, then remove the lotus leaves, add sugar and eat during the day.
