Mint is widely used in beauty care. It stimulates the skin and improves blood circulation to the skin surface. With antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, mint helps protect and soothe the skin.

Mint also contains salicylic acid which is beneficial in preventing and treating acne, helping to control and prevent skin rashes, such as acne, boils and heat rash. Because it helps reduce oiliness, mint is ideal for oily and combination skin.

Mint is also said to improve the skin’s ability to retain moisture, so it is added to many skin care products, such as cleansers for oily and acne-prone skin, moisturizers, etc.

Peppermint is added to many skin care products.

There are many ways you can add mint to your skin care routine:

1. Home Skin Care

For home beauty care, fresh or dried mint leaves can be crushed or powdered and applied on the face. Or, it can be added to fruit pulp to make a cooling summer mask.

Mix crushed mint leaves with ripe papaya pulp and cucumber. Apply the mixture on the face and wash off after 20 minutes. In fact, mint also has skin lightening and sun-reducing properties.

2. Oily Skin Care

For oily skin, take equal amounts of lemon juice and rose water. Add crushed mint leaves and leave it for an hour. Strain the leaves and apply the liquid on the face. Wash off after 20 minutes, it helps reduce oiliness, refreshes the skin, brightens the skin and cools the skin.

For dry skin, avoid lemon juice and add mint and half a teaspoon of honey to the rose water.

3. Skin Care for Acne

For acne, dry mint leaves can be powdered, natural clay (multani mitti) and rose water. Mix all of them into a paste. Apply the mixture on the face and wash it off when dry; it helps to cleanse the skin, reduce oiliness and brighten the skin.

You can also make a paste of the leaves and apply it directly on pimples, acne. It has a healing effect and soothes skin rashes, due to the anti-inflammatory properties of mint.

4. Create a fresh skin

Make a mask by mixing crushed or ground mint leaves with rose water and honey into a paste. Apply the mixture on the face for 15 minutes and then wash it off with water

Mint is suitable for all skin types, but due to the antibacterial properties of this herb, it is more beneficial for oily and acne-prone skin.

Mint leaves are known to aid digestion. Dried mint leaves and leaf powder can also be added to drinks for a cool, refreshing and healthy summer drink.
