Vitamin A is an essential nutrient for the eyes, providing many benefits and helping to keep the eyes bright and healthy. However, many people are still indifferent to supplementing vitamin A for the eyes regularly, or many people do not even know how to supplement it properly.

Why do eyes need vitamin A?

Vitamin A is an antioxidant that protects the eyes, strengthens the health of the mucous membranes and cornea, and fights infections caused by bacteria or viruses. At the same time, vitamin A also helps the eyes form visual pigments to better adapt to the dark.

Vitamin A is an essential nutrient for the eyes.

However, many people are still “ignoring” their eyes in a state of vitamin A deficiency without knowing it. This often causes some damage to the eyes. If the condition persists and the amount of vitamin A deficiency is too high, it can cause keratitis, or worse, permanent blindness.

At present, air pollution, sunlight, or frequent use of phones and computers will make the eyes work harder, easily causing dry eyes and damaging the cornea. Many studies have shown that vitamin A helps tears stick to the corneal surface, while supporting the synthesis of mucus in the eyes and promoting the formation of epithelium.

Because of these important benefits, vitamin A is always considered an indispensable companion for the eyes.

Signs of vitamin A deficiency in the eyes

When the eyes are deficient in vitamin A, many symptoms will appear such as:

Night blindness : reduced vision in low light conditions.

– Dry and burning sensation in the eyes.

– Eye pain ranging from mild to severe.

– Red eyes, upper and lower eyelids sticking together.

– Blurred vision.

– Fear of strong light.

– Frequent pain in the eye socket.

– Due to stimulation of the lacrimal gland, tears are often secreted.

Eyes always need vitamin A supplements and careful care.

When one of these signs appears, it is the time when the eyes are “sounding the alarm” due to lack of vitamin A. To prevent this condition, we need to regularly supplement vitamin A for the eyes, helping the eyes stay healthy and radiant against all attacks from the external environment.

Ways to supplement vitamin A for the eyes

According to the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), the amount of vitamin A needed each day will vary by age and gender. As an adult, each person needs about 700 – 900mcg of vitamin A per day.
